I'm in my 3rd year of an MEng degree. I love research but I am trying to rediscover my love of learning. I used to want to be a doctor and I focused on that so much that I never tried exploring anything different. It might sound strange, but I'm 20 years old and I've only just started trying to rediscover my passion for life and learning.

This has been the busiest month of my life, mainly because I decided to look for things I enjoy and explore them. It's the happiest month I've had in a while.

28 Jan As part of a Credit Suisse volunteering team I spent a day supporting CV writing and interview skills at a girls school in North London. Meeting so many amazing girls with such ambitions for the future was a pleasure which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Working in Credit Suisse, an organization which supports the development of next generation females, has provided the opportunity to meet role models as well as be a role model. Here I am at the House of Lords in Nov 2018 meeting Jodie Whittaker and then with Baroness Lawrence and Baroness Finlay inspiring and motivating girls for a debate on ‘Girls Breaking Barriers: How can we ensure that girls and young women are able to achieve their potential in the UK and around the world?’ held in the actual chamber. It was an amazing day.

I am currently studying music production and technology at college final year. I’ve very recently felt under pressure from the lecturers to continue in education and go on to UNI. However I don’t feel it’s the right path for me. I’d like to get involved working within the music industry but have very little information of what’s available for me with as yet no experience. I live in Dorset. Thanks

Modernmuse Hi Chantelle - It's a good idea to look at all of the options available to you so you can make an informed decision. One of our contacts in the Music Industry has recommended the following: 'Finding an internship/being an apprentice is the way many people start, so it might be worth speaking to https://www.divaapprenticeships.com. I’d also volunteer at venues in the evenings, maybe ask to help out at studios in your spare time and talk to/write to people in the sector. ' Hope this helps. Also, we're on the look out for Muses in the Music industry so you can see how they got their jobs.

Holly Boothroyd Hi Trishna, these days I work on Cortana for Windows and Xbox. It is my job to create features and to fix bugs based on the project's priorities. The process I go through to complete a feature request starts by designing the architecture of the solution, then implementing it which includes writing tests, and finally going through the pull request process where I receive feedback on my solution and make adjustments to the code. Along with collaborating with other software engineers, a lot of my work involves working with project managers and designers to ensure that the implementation I create follows the design and is completed on time. However, when things don’t go according to plan, it is important for me to manage the situation and find the next best solution that suits the engineers, project managers, and designers.
I spent last week in Frankfurt on a leadership training course. It was interesting to meet new colleagues - pictured here from Spain, Germany and Poland. I learned new things and was given constructive and helpful feedback about my performance during the sessions. I have lots to think about now that I am back at work.

I watched Dr Who last week and was struck how clever they were to flip stereotypes. The Doctor explained the beauty of quantum physics in a very eloquent manner while a man was giving birth with men birth partners. Enjoyable episode and great script writing! Did you watch it?
