Founded in 2007, by Sam Smith, finnCap is a leading adviser and broker to ambitious growth companies.  In a similar way to Dragons Den companies come and tell us their story, what their business is about and what it is selling.  We then decide how good the idea is and whether we can tell a bigger and better story to other people (shareholders) to excite them about investing money into the company which will then enable it to grow faster, be more successful and hopefully make more money.

Sam started her career in 1998 in the City after qualifying as a chartered accountant with KPMG.  She is the only female chief executive of a City broker and under her leadership finnCap is one of the leading and fastest-growing independent brokers in the City.

As finnCap offer a range of services the skills and knowledge required is broad.  Mathematics is key however to most roles along with good written and communications skills.

Job Roles

Corporate Finance - providing financial and regulatory advice to corporate clients (create and make deals). This team looks for expertise in accountancy and law.

Research - industry experts producing research reports and interpreting company news for professional investors (fact finders and opinion formers). This team looks for good mathematical, analytical and written skills.

Corporate Broking - managing the relationship between corporate clients, their shareholders and the market in general (great communicators and negotiators). This team looks for numerical and communication skills.

Sales - managing the relationship between companies and investment professionals (idea generators).  

Trading & Market Making - money makers who buy and sell shares (fast pace communicators).
