As an international company, we combine a great diversity of cultures, ideas and talent. Diversity and tolerance keep a company competitive. Respect and integrity guide our behaviour. We integrate a work-life balance in a challenging work environment where flexible, mobile working is welcome.

Diversity is a key driver for change in our corporate culture – and at the same time our contribution to true appreciation and respect in society. At the moment key issues in the Group include, above all, gender, work-life balance, age and ethnic origin.

We follow five Guiding Principles that shape the way we think and act within the Group. They represent our values and define what we stand for, how we work together, how we behave and what we believe.

Customer delight and simplicity drive our action

We don’t just want customers to be satisfied but want to delight them with our services.

Respect and integrity guide our behaviour

We respect our colleagues, customers, partners and suppliers. We support the success of T-Systems and Deutsche Telekom with an open, honest culture.

Team together – Team apart

We aim to discuss issues openly within the team. There has to be room for differences of opinion and for tough, controversial discussions. Once a decision has been made, however, it must be implemented thoroughly and consistently by all team players.

Best place to perform and grow

Our success is based on motivated, well-trained employees. That’s why this Guiding Principle requires all management staff to recognise individual commitment and success and to promote a positive environment with opportunities for growth and development.

I am T – count on me

I am proud to be ‘T’ (T-Systems and Deutsche Telekom): customers, co-workers and partners can rely on me.

In the UK we demonstrate our commitment to ‘Giving Something Back’ to our local communities by encouraging all our employees to take a paid day off each year to volunteer for the charity of their choice.

Working in a charity shop, training for/competing in a fund-raising charity event, staffing the telephones in your charity’s office and supporting a community project are all examples of charitable activities undertaken by our employees over the past 12 months.

In Milton Keynes we have a number of charities who are excited to be working with us:

In London we work with Benefacto who help match peoples’ interests with charities who want your help – it’s as easy as booking hotel! At our other offices, we encourage staff to work with charities of their choice and work with their colleagues to build relationships and make a difference to those organisations.

We regularly get involved with national fundraising events like Comic Relief, Sport Relief, Macmillian Coffee Mornings, Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day…

This year we are offering our employees the chance to get involved in two charity challenges – for the super fit we have the UK Challenge, a gruelling three-day event designed to test teams to the limit with physical and mental challenges.

For those who prefer a more sedate pace, we have the Thames Path Challenge which takes in 16 of London’s bridges in a sponsored 25km walk.

We also play an active role in helping future generations see themselves working in IT. We are a partner in the Modern Muse initiative to inspire girls (aged 8-16) to explore careers in STEM subject (science, technology, engineering and maths).

We also invite children, grandchildren and nieces/nephews of our employees to a ‘Little Boss meets the Big Boss’ day once a year (aged 7-11). The children get to come to the workplace for a day in the summer holidays and find out more about the world of work.

T-Systems is striving to be a business that is Diverse, Inclusive and Socially aware and the Modern Muse Programme ticks all of the boxes. We have a number of extremely talented women in technology who would love to share their experience and knowledge with the younger generation and what better way to that than Modern Muse.

We want to recruit the best people for our business and promote an environment that is both diverse and inclusive.  This sounds simple but in a changing business landscape, we need to continually review what talent and capability we need and then how we attract and engage it and Modern Muse will help us to achieve this.

We are really excited to be part of this initiative and think the platform could be a really powerful tool to give the next generation the inspiration and role models they need for a career in technology.
