I worked part-time and weekends throughout university. I had wanted to get some work experience, although the job wasn’t in my field of study it taught me time management skills, how to juggle work, studying and friends, as well as how to manage challenging situations.
Marketing Assistant (internship and permanent role) – Edge Global Media Group
I graduated with a degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications and decided to do an unpaid internship as I was unsure of what area of marketing I wanted to get involved in. It was a steep learning curve. Doing unpaid work was hard but it all paid off as they offered me a permanent position.
Marketing Executive SECOM PLC
I worked in the marketing team with a strong focus on Digital and Direct Marketing. Produced infographics, video content and ran marketing campaigns for the UK and Japan.
Marketing Executive – Wonga
I was responsible for digital advertising, email automation and managing affiliate relationships – the role was very board but enjoyed the variety of work.
Right now my role sits within the Global Marketing and Branding team. On a day to day basis I am working on social media and digital marketing campaigns. I also like the fact that I am able to get involved in the networks in the firm and they are focused on promoting a diverse culture.
I’m Victoria and I work in the Global Marketing and Branding team in Credit Suisse. I love my role and all things marketing and digital. I graduated in 2013 and have been working in my field since – I’ve worked for a security firm, tech start-up and now a bank. Every day my role is changing and evolving and that’s what’s kept my interested in my field.
Outside of work you can find me at the gym, travelling or trying a new recipe. My mantra for the year is to be kinder to myself so have been making a conscious effort to explore things that I’m interested in!

I heard a great quote at an event I went to recently which was “No one’s career is linear”. Everyone has a different career path and there will be points in your career where you get frustrated or you realise that this is not where you want to be. Learn from those situations and invest in finding out what will make you happy as you’ll be doing the role for at least 8 hours a day.

In school I wanted to be an actress in a soap opera – one can still dream right?
Not sure I would do anything differently, but I would say that I wish I had more confidence starting out. Often I felt lucky to be in a role and doubted myself.
